The Walled Garden in its current form under the management of EMA has been open since 2015
What times is the Walled Garden Moreton open?
Spring/Summer season (April – Sept) we open 9am-4:30pm
Autumn/Winter season (Oct – Mar) we open 9am-4pm
Cafe food serving starts at 10am.
Is the Walled Garden open all year round?
The Walled Garden is only closed between Christmas and New Year. We open 7 days a week for the rest of the year
How much is entry to The Walled Garden?
Entrance to the gardens, animal area and play park is £4 for adults, and under 18s go free. (The café does not require an entrance fee).
We also sell season tickets for unlimited visits. These are £12.50 per adult.
Where does my entry fee go?
- Support our garden team as they maintain and develop the formal gardens all year round.
- Every pound we save on the upkeep of the gardens allows EMA to develop its curriculum and facilities, enabling the college to support more young people in reaching their potential.
- Support the costs of animal feed and the maintenance of our enclosures.
- Helps with the upkeep of the car park and keeps parking on-site FREE.
Do you offer discounts for carers?
The entry fee applies to all adults. If you have multiple carers or are visiting as a group regularly, please get in touch.
Is the Walled Garden dog friendly?
Yes, we welcome dogs across the whole site and in the café. They must remain on leads during your visit. Thank you!
Is there parking at The Walled Garden Moreton?
We have lots of free parking on site, and an overflow parking field for busy periods (also free)

What does Employ My Ability do?
EMA (Employ My Ability) is a post 16 college for young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Many of our students complete work experience and studies in the café and gardens. Find out more on the EMA website.
What is the nearest train station to The Walled Garden?
Moreton Train Station is 1.9 miles from The Walled Garden. Please note, most of the journey between the two points is without a public footpath, though it is an easy bike ride!
Can I get to the Walled Garden via public transport?
We are not on the public transport route so recommend driving your own car, a taxi or cycling. The nearest train station is 1.9 miles away.
Is The Walled Garden wheelchair friendly?
Yes, we are wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly. There is an accessible route around the whole gardens with the exception of a couple of side paths which we would not deem accessible for wheelchairs. The café also has wheelchair access.
Does The Walled Garden host weddings?
We currently do not host Weddings. We can offer the option to work with the third-party to provide a location for weddings, but we do not offer any kind of event organisation package.
Can I book The Walled Garden for a birthday party, function, children’s party?
Yes! We can accommodate a range of private parties and functions. With space available in the café, gardens, and event field. We have also hosted businesses lunches and days out including hands on experiences with our animals – such as goat feeding, and reptile handling. As of the 2026 season – our children’s party packages are currently being revamped, and we will share details as soon as we can.
What is the name of the café at The Walled Garden?
The Dovecote Café is located here at The Walled Garden. (Reminder, you do not need to pay entry free to just access the café)
Does the Walled Garden host events over the school holidays?
Yes, during the school holidays we always plan an event or activity for families to enjoy together! From trails to animal experiences, we like to make sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy here.
Is there anything at The Walled Garden to keep children entertained?
We have a children’s play park here. Located right next to the animal area, plus ride on tractors in our dedicated tractor space. So once you’ve enjoyed a walk around our beautiful gardens, there’s a space especially for the children to let off steam. The cafe also has a range of children’s books to read while you visit, along with colouring crayons and free activity sheets during the holidays.
Can I take my own photos at The Walled Garden?
You are very welcome to take your own photos and videos for personal use, and to share on social media. Please respect the privacy of other visitors and staff.
Commercial Use: Taking photos or videos on site for commercial use or for photo library websites (such as shutterstock, or pixabay) is prohibited without consent from us. If you have a project, or are a photographer looking to take some photos or video for commercial use, wedding shoots, or use on photo library websites, please get in touch.
Drones: The use of drones is not permitted at The Walled Garden Moreton.
What animals can I see at The Walled Garden?
On public display, we have pygmy goats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs and various chicken families, along with finches and quails. During our animal experiences and children’s birthday parties, visitors are introduced to a host of bugs and reptiles by our animal care technician.
Can I access WiFi at The Walled Garden?
WiFi is available for visitors to use at the Dovecote Café.

We want everyone to feel welcome and enjoy their visit to The Walled Garden Moreton. Our aim is to make our gardens and cafe as accessible and inclusive as possible, and we are always looking for ways to improve.
Getting Here
- Sat Nav: Our Postcode is DT2 8RG. The entrance to the car park is located next to the Graveyard of St Nicholas (T.E Lawrence of Arabia)
- Free parking is available with disabled parking spaces situated on the right-hand side of the gravel car park next to the main entrance to the café and gardens.
On Arrival
- We have step-free access to the gardens and café (the café has a concrete ramp).
- Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site.
- Staff are here to assist if needed – just let us know how we can help.
Facilities
- Accessible toilets are located next to the Dovecote Café and in Animal Acre.
- Seating is available around the gardens and there is both indoor and outdoor seating in the café.
During Your Visit
- We have clear signage at the entrance, and a garden map is available from the café and entrance hut. We have installed information lecterns in various points of the gardens.
- If you have specific needs, please speak to a member of our team – we will do our best to accommodate you.
- The main path around the gardens is wheelchair friendly. Although there are a couple of side paths we wouldn’t deem accessible for wheelchairs without assistance.
